Drainage and surface water
North West rainfall is not forgiving. We design groundworks so water is steered to the right place — channel drains at thresholds, falls away from the house, and permeable build-ups where a resin-bound or similar system is planned. Poor drainage is one of the fastest ways to ruin an otherwise good driveway, so we treat it as part of the base package, not an afterthought.
How a typical groundworks job runs
- Walk the site (or review clear photos and measurements) and note services, access and levels
- Agree dig depth, sub-base specification and drainage approach in the quote
- Excavate, trim and compact in layers so the base does not soft-spot
- Install channels or connections as specified before the finish goes on
- Hand over a tidy, level platform ready for surfacing — or continue with our own finish teams
Materials and build quality
We use suitable granular sub-base materials compacted in layers, with edge support where the finished surface needs it. Exact depth and stone size depend on ground conditions and expected traffic — a family driveway differs from a van parking bay. We will explain the options in plain English when we quote.
